The Ocean Cleanup entwickelt und betreibt passive Fang-Systeme für den Großen Pazifischen Müllstrudel sowie solar-betriebene Flusssperren (Interceptors), die in stark verschmutzten Flüssen Plastik vor dem Eintritt ins Meer abfangen. Ziel ist die Entfernung von 90 Prozent des weltweit schwimmenden Plastiks bis 2040.
